While we may not compete with large population counties that attract major companies like MetalX and Eli Lilly, we are certainly champions on a per capita basis. Recent projects such as Americus Fresh, NanoPV, and Invenergy, along with various expansions like Southern Wholesale Glass, GMM Pfaudler, and Austin Urethane, have significantly boosted our county’s recognition.
Winning metrics in the per capita designation were based on capital investment success, as determined through Top Micropolitan winners (May 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025), and their corresponding economic development projects. Counties are recognized for their behind-the-scenes contributions in facilitating both project attraction and retention.
In Georgia, Fulton County ranked #13 out of 20 and was the only county in Georgia to win. In the micropolitan category, there were two winners: Toombs County, #7, and Sumter County, #19.
